Jovia Financial Credit Union in partnership with the Long Island Nets (LI Nets) and Target teamed up to donate more than $10,000 in supplies for the for its third annual Back-To-School Drive on September 20, 2024. The three organizations teamed up to deliver school supplies to Northern Parkway Elementary School in the Uniondale Union Free School District and Robert Frost Middle School in the Deer Park School District.
"In our ongoing partnership with the LI Nets and Target, we are committed to strengthening our relationship with the Long Island community and giving back to educators, children and families at the beginning of the school year," said Rich Tavarez, Community Relations Officer at Jovia Financial Credit Union. “The collaborative effort underscores the ongoing commitment of all partners to the local Long Island community, helping children and families as they begin the school year.”
Ahead of the school supply drop-off, Jovia Financial Credit Union hosted 50 volunteers from the Long Island Nets and Target at their Westbury, N.Y. branch to sort and pack 750 back-to-school supplies and 350 books for both schools.
Together, the three organizations have donated over 2,500 educational supplies to eight schools on Long Island since the 2021-22 season.
