The Jovia Long Island Marathon, one of Long Island’s most exciting public athletic events of the year, took off out of the starting block on Friday, May 5 straight through Sunday, May 7 at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. Jovia Financial Credit Union was front and center throughout the park as the title sponsor for the fifth consecutive year. The 50th annual marathon weekend saw close to 12,500 people attending the weekend-long festivities. The final day of the marathon weekend featured a 1K Kids Fun Run, 5K Family Fun Run, 10K Race, Half Marathon and Marathon.

“This year’s marathon weekend was bigger and brighter than ever,” stated Peter Purpura, VP of Business Development for Jovia Financial Credit Union. “This is the largest marathon event on Long Island, with people from around the country and as far as Paris, France participating in a number of races and enjoying live music and fun for the entire family. To be title sponsor of the 50th anniversary of the marathon while we celebrate our 85th anniversary of Jovia is something special to remember.”

As an organization of positivity and inclusion, Jovia is committed to supporting the communities of Long Island and is passionate about bringing people together. The Jovia Long Island Marathon did just that while celebrating friendly competition. The marathon-weekend presenting sponsors included HSS Long Island, Lidl, PSEG Long Island, Nassau Parks Conservancy and Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation & Museums. The athletic event also raised awareness and funds for two non-profit organizations, Nassau Parks Conservancy and Friends of Karen.
