Jovia Financial Credit Union’s cybersecurity arm Cyganix, has hosted its first Cybersecurity Conference on Tuesday, Sept. 17. Cybersecurity enthusiasts including students, professionals and interested community members came from across Long Island to learn more about this growing industry, as well as the growing concern for consumers.

Held at Nassau Community College, the evening included engaging workshops, expert speakers, hands-on learning, career insights and networking opportunities for all who attended. Speakers at the event included experts from Palo Alto Networks, Optiv Security and Carson & Saint, as well as vendors from Darktrace, ePlus Technology, Gotham Technology Group, LLC. and Maureen Data Systems. They covered topics such as leveraging AI in cybersecurity, data exfiltration prevention, getting into the cybersecurity industry, and the importance of risk-based vulnerability management.

“Cybersecurity is both a growing concern and a growing field. It was important for Cyganix to host this inaugural event to promote cybersecurity opportunities, advancements and information for students, professionals and the community-at-large,” said Dr. Daniel Ford, Chief Information Security Officer at Jovia Financial Credit Union.

Launched in the last year, Cyganix is also producing podcasts, videos, and sharing information with the media, covering a variety of technology and cybersecurity topics along with best practices and tips for personal information protection. Through Cyganix, a dark web monitoring program will be piloted, in which members will receive free dark web scans of their email accounts.
